DIRECTOR


Josh W. Trent is in his 10th year of Teaching and his 6th year as Band Director at Livingston Academy and Overton County Schools. He teaches band at Livingston Academy High School as well as Music History and Vocal Music. After graduating with his Bachelors in Music Education he earned his Masters in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Tech.

Before coming to Overton County Josh was the Music Director at Northside Elementary School and assistant director of bands in DeKalb County. He also has taught in Clay County TN were he was responsible for K-12 music and band.

Josh hails from Kingsport, TN where he graduated from Dobyns-Bennett High School after participating in Kingsport City's award winning band programs for 7 years. After high school he attended Tennessee Technological University under scholarship on tuba for 5 years. The ensembles he has been involved with include, the Golden Eagle Marching Band, the Tennessee Tech Symphony Band, Bryan Symphony Orchestra, Elision Brass Quintet, Tubaphonium Tuba Quartet, and the world renowned Tennessee Tech Tuba Ensemble. He can be heard on many recordings including TTU's Symphony Band CD entitled "Music for Saxophone and Symphonic Winds," "Pierre Garbage," "Kings of Brass," and "Play that Funky Tuba." Josh is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Professional Music Fraternity, Music Educators National Conference, Tennessee Music Educators Association, and Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association.
